Readers' Theater: The Crucible

Readers' Theater: "The Crucible" on stage Oct. 30 at The Merc Playhouse.

Set in 1692, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, is a hauntingly contemporary piece that explores the dramatized life behind the very real trials of Salem, Massachusetts’ infamous Witch Hunt.

When members of the community are arrested on suspicion of witchcraft, Salem’s town folk grapple with their own faith and reason. As neighbor turns on neighbor and accusations become the only escape from the death penalty. Justice, morality, and power are challenged. Dark secrets emerge and we ask;
Is the Devil alive in Salem?
