As one of the many worthy not-for-profit organizations in the Valley, The Merc Playhouse is always grateful for monetary donations. We do reward our Friends of the Merc donors who give a minimum of $300 annually. Friends get some special offers during the season, as well as the opportunity to be the first to know what’s coming next season. Business Sponsors are also offered presale privileges and invited to special events. You might be interested to learn that the ticket revenue for any given show does not cover the show’s cost. When donations & ticket purchases fall short, we seek grants are added to donated funds to help balance our budget. We have a myriad of opportunities for volunteers, regardless of your interests or talents. Costumers search our bins and shelves, or haunt local thrift stores for period pieces. We alter, hem, let out, and even make from scratch if we can’t locate something appropriate. Sets require certain traditional building skills, but also an eye for just the right pieces to dress the set to its intended time period. Imagine needing to locate a rotary dial telephone or an old-fashioned typewriter for a play set in 1945. Helping out in the concession area puts you in contact with our many thirsty patrons. That’s the area where everyone loves to hang out at intermission. Don’t forget you can audition to be on stage, too. The time commitment for a fully-produced play is considerable, and you have lines to memorize. Time needed for preparation of a Readers Theater is much less, without those lines to learn. The reward of presenting meaningful drama through words alone or in a full production are both very gratifying. You’ll find more information on our website and you can contact us at [email protected]. Thanks for reading these special Spotlights for our 25th anniversary year at The Merc Playhouse. Cheers to 25 years. . . and here’s to 25 more, Jane Hill Comments are closed.
