The Merc Playhouse seeks directors for the 2026 season!

The Merc Playhouse’s programming committee is hard at work reading scripts in advance of selecting our 2026 season. The eleven-member committee begins working in January and selects dozens of scripts to read for full productions, Reader's Theater productions, and children’s theater productions. They meet twice a month and discuss the merits of each script and how well the show will fit with our community. While reading, they are frequently considering directors for each production. Which leads you YOU: we need directors! We have several opportunities in 2026 to get involved in the creative theater experience. 
 
Have you wondered how to get involved in directing shows for theater? Contact us! If you’ve never directed, but you are curious about “what it takes” to direct, we have opportunities to work with experienced directors, or get involved through Reader's Theater productions prior to working on a full production. Experienced directors may even want to dive into full productions. We will hold orientation meetings with prospective directors and explore where they can fit in our 2026 season. Directors receive a stipend for working on a production. Enquire to learn more.
